Parents

At Chantry we believe that a close working relationship with parents and carers is one of the keys to making progress. Parents and carers are kept closely informed about their child’s progress through informal telephone conversations, termly interview days, annual reviews, pre and post-admissions meetings and school reports. Parents are always welcome to visit for school events or to meet with staff.

Parents and carers are invited in for an interview with their child at the beginning of each term. During the interview there is an opportunity to discuss any developments in the school or at home and to set targets for the forthcoming term.

The school’s home/school liaison worker, Vanessa Rowe, provides additional support to pupils and their families.

School Uniform

All students are expected to wear the prescribed school uniform:

  • Black shoes

  • Smart black trousers

  • White shirt

  • Black v-neck jumper

  • Black blazer with a school logo sewn on is optional

Students are not permited to wear hooded tops. If they wear a hooded top to school they will have to remove it before entering the building.

The school operates a 3 strikes policy, if the pupil comes to school with the wrong uniform 3 times they will be given a SMT Wednesday lunch time uniform detention.

For physical education, the school will provide a sports kit to participate in. Students are welcome to bring their own sports kit if they wish.

Working Together

There are many opportunities to meet with staff in order to develop a working relationship, to further your child’s progress. Apart from arranged appointments, staff can be contacted: within school time by telephone or through the email addresses contained in the “Contact Us” section.

Illness at school

Trained first aid personnel look after children who are taken ill whilst at school.

Normally a period in the medical room and kindness is sufficient for non-serious cases.

Serious cases will be sent home or receive hospital treatment after consultation with parent/guardians. Emergency cases will receive emergency treatment.

A DAY-TIME TELEPHONE NUMBER IS ESSENTIAL

Specific Detail

These are discussed at pre-admission and subsequent interviews. There is also an opportunity to mention specific details on the confidential form.

Homework and extra tuition is provided after full discussion with parents.
